Lord, be our light
.

(Introductory Prayers)

THE GOSPEL
Matthew 13:24-43

The kingdom of heaven may be likened to a man
who sowed good seed in his field.

Which
 one is a weed
and which is a flower?

Who is a sinner and who is a saint?

Are we each?

 Fond
 Father
you wait for us
in patience and kindness

as we,
with your help,
work with our weeds.

Thank you for your tolerance.

Make us patient
with others.

THE FIRST READING
Wisdom 12:13, 16-19

For though you are the master of might, you judge with clemency.

Kind God,
You teach by Jesus’ example
that justice is kind,
that power
can
be
gentle.

Let us learn from you.

THE SECOND READING

Romans 8:26-27

For we do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes with inexpressible groanings.

Holy Spirit,
within us dwelling,

be our
 aid.

Take our paltry prayers.
gentle them, weave them into yours.

When the Father searches our hearts

let him find your infinite acts of love
 intertwined with our
small ones.

Amen
