For the Church: that we may grow in our confidence that whether we live or die, we belong to God

For the grace of hope: that we may know that in dying with Christ we already share in new life and that we may give witness to this hope which is ours in Christ

For all who are burdened by grief and loss: that the comfort of God's love and the hope of God's Word may sustain them in their time of separation

For all who have died, particularly family and friends who have died during this last year: that Jesus, who is the resurrection and the life, may welcome them into God's presence and peace forever

For all the deceased deacons, priests, religious, and lay ministers who have served in our schools, parishes, and colleges: that they may share in the joy of the communion of saints forever

For all who are persecuted or who face death for following Jesus: that God will free them from fear, give them courage to remain faithful, and make fruitful their witness to the Gospel

For all who have died by starvation, lack of medical care, or clean water: that God will awaken our hearts to those who struggle for life each day and guide us in preventing a disaster today

For all who are near death: that the promise of Jesus to the good thief may calm their fears and open before them the way to be with Jesus in paradise today

For those who are dying alone: that God will send an angel to strengthen and console them

For parents who mourn the death of a child and children who mourn the death of a parent: that they may draw near Jesus who is always with them and who bears their pain

For all who have been condemned to death: that they may look upon Jesus, the crucified one, and find strength and peace

For all who fear death and have no hope in the resurrection: that they may encounter the Risen Lord and come to faith in Christ who is the resurrection and the life

For all who live amidst violence and death: that God will protect those in war-torn areas, in gang-controlled neighborhoods, public safety officers, and members of the military and guide them to safety

For all who minister to those approaching death and to those grieving the death of a loved one: that the Spirit will work through them to bring hope, consolation, and peace

For the retired members of religious communities and diocesan priests: that God will provide for them, bless them with health and peace, and touch the hearts of many through their faithful witness

For peace in the world and in our cities: that God will open minds and hearts to the dignity of each life, maintain peace between Israel and Gaza, and end the fighting in Ukraine and Sudan
