A Poem to Sit With
Holy Week
March 28-31, 2024
J. Janda

When Jesus had taken the wine, he said,
“It is finished.” And bowing his head, he handed over the spirit.
    (Gospel, Good Friday)

  So many there
    waiting

  their bodies
    beyond

  control as
    vegetable

  life or healing
    itself—

  one when told
    cried

  then smiled
    and
    made plans to
    be
    with her daughter
