Easter Vigil Readings

I ask the grace to “help us
love you and our neighbor”

(Introductory Prayers)

THE GOSPEL
Matthew 28:1-10

He is not here; for he has been raised as he said.

No
fear,
no boulders,
nothing could stop them.

The women stayed with Jesus to the end
and daybreak brought them
back.

“You seek Jesus of Nazareth.
He has been raised.
He is not here,”
an angel
said.

Christ,
let nothing
stop us either.

Help us seek and find you in our daily lives
and tell everyone we meet
that you are alive
and well and
with us
now.

THE FIRST READING
Genesis 1:1-2:2

Then God said, “Let there be light.”

God said, “Let there be light.”

Darkness was on
the face of the
deep.

“Let there be light.”

The Word was with God and the Word was God.
And all things come to be through him.

“Let there be light.”

What came to be through him was life,
And this life was the light of the human race.

Christ,
Let there be light.

THE SECOND READING
Romans 6: 3-11

So we too might walk in the newness of life

Christ,

we
are baptized,

are now one with you
in your death and resurrection.

Let us walk in the newness of this life.

Alleluia!
