Recent and Upcoming Conferences
This spring (March 30th-31st), the bi-annual Henle Conference will focus on Happiness and Well-Being. The conference is being organized by Dan Haybron. Speakers include: Richard Kraut, Peter Railton, Valerie Tiberius, Erik Angner, Nicole Hassoun, Tobias Hoffmann.
The Graduate Student conference this year (October 20-21st) is on the topic of Social Epistemology. Keynote speaker is Alvin Goldman. Jonathan Reibsamen is organizing the conference.
The Department recently (April 28th-30th, 2011) hosted a conference and workshop devoted to Causal Powers: Putting Powers to Work. The conference itself was organized by Jon Jacobs and funded by Templeton.
Visiting Faculty
Professor Dr. Friedmann Buddensiek will be our Frankfurt Exchange Professor for the Spring of 2012. He will offer a seminar devoted to Aristotle's Metaphysics.
Alexander Bird (Bristol) is the Collins Visiting Professor for Fall of 2011. He is offering a seminar entitled "Topics in the Metaphysics and Epistemology of Science."
The department is pleased to announce that Christopher Sheilds (Oxford) will join the department in the fall of 2012 as the Collins Visiting Professor.
Faculty Honors and Awards
A paper by John Greco was recently selected for reprint in a special retrospective issue of Philosophical Quarterly.
Bill Rehg is visiting professor at Georgetown University, where he holds the Jesuit Chair in the Department of Philosophy for the 2011-2012 academic year.
Dan Haybron’s work on happiness and human well-being was noted in a recent NY Times article.
Greg Beabout was the 2010 recipient of the Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award in recognition of his work as faculty advisor to the Philosophy Club.

George Terzis has published a new book (co-edited with Robert Arp), Information and Living Systems: Philosophical and Scientific Perspectives, MIT Press, 2011.
The 2006 edition John Kavanaugh’s book, Following Christ in a Consumer Society, has just been translated into Korean and published in Korea.
John Greco’s new book (co-edited with John Turri) Virtue Epistemology: Contemporary Readings is soon to appear with MIT Press.
