Why do you need my financial support?
Our ministries at the Center for Liturgy rely entirely on
donor support. While we are housed on the campus of Saint
Louis University, we are responsible for raising all of the
money each year to fund our programs. The Center has just
three employees with several dedicated volunteers to keep
our operating costs low.
Why don't you charge subscription or membership fees like
other websites?
We are dedicated to keeping the site free to all, especially
poor people who cannot afford to pay for spiritual
resources. To keep the site free, we must cover our costs of
maintaining the site through donations from our
readers.
What are your costs of maintaining the Sunday Web
Site?
The primary cost is the salary of our webmaster. He edits
and posts roughly 50 pages to the site for each of 52
Sundays per year plus special editions. (That's more than
2600 pages per year!) This includes collaborating with 25
different writers, 20 parishes who share music, and several
publishers, translators, and content advisors. Some of our
writers receive a modest stipend for their work, and our
University overhead assesment covers the cost of hosting our
highly-trafficed site on its web servers.
Is my gift tax deductible?
Yes, all gifts are tax deductible in accordance with IRS
guidelines.

What is the mission of the Stroble Center for Liturgy?
The Stroble Center for Liturgy enlivens, enriches and
deepens the celebration of the Eucharist. We enable
Catholics to participate more fully in the Mass, we advance
the composition and performance of sacred music, and we
teach young people about the riches of Catholic liturgy. For
more information about our work,
What is the purpose of the Sunday Web Site?
The Eucharist is the source and summit of life, and all are
called to full, conscious, and active participation. The
Sunday Web Site works to make that vision a reality. First,
it helps people understand the readings and to prepare their
hearts and minds for Sunday Mass. Second, it helps ministers
(priests, deacons, musicians, lectors, and others) to
prepare the Mass well. We all know that the Church needs
better preaching, better music, and more prayerful
liturgies.
What does the Sunday Web Site provide? Reflections on the readings for every Sunday by leading
authors on liturgical spirituality such authors as Fathers
Ron Rolheiser, Larry Gillick, John Kavanaugh, and John
Foley, Drs. Eleonore Stump, John Pilch, and Reginald Fuller,
Sr. Joyce Ann Zimmerman, and many others. Prayers based on
each reading for the particular Sunday. Historical context
for the Gospel. An in-depth analysis of each reading.
Discussion questions, reflections by SLU students—one
of our most popular features—and music that various
parishes have chosen for each week. General Intercessions
that fit directly into each liturgical week and into world
and national events.
What is the site's connection with the Catholic, Jesuit
mission of Saint Louis University? The mission of Saint Louis University is the pursuit of
truth for the greater glory of God and for the service of
humanity. The Stroble Center for Liturgy and its
Sunday Web Site carry out this mission by providing
spiritual resources for Catholics and other Christians to
prepare their hearts and minds for Sunday Mass. Several
prominent SLU faculty members are regular contributors to
the site, including Jesuit Fathers John Foley and John
Kavanaugh and Dr. Eleonore Stump. Additional writings by
Jesuit Father Larry Gillick of Creighton University and Dr.
John Pilch of Georgetown University add to the Ignatian
character of the site. Also, the weekly prayers and
preparatory prayers are based in the Ignatian practice of
imaginative prayer.
How can I share this site with others?
Please share the Sunday Web Site in any way you can. If you
are connected to a parish or other faith community, you can
bulletin inserts and other free materials about the website.
We are looking into ways that readers could share our
content via email and social media websites – we hope
to add those features in the near future.
Do you have volunteer opportunities?
Depending on your unique abilities, there may be ways for
you to volunteer to help us. Currently we are in need of
people with good communication and organization skills to
help us promote The Sunday Web Site. For more information,
please call Scott Pluff at 314-977-7213.
What is your information privacy policy?
In short, we will never sell, trade or share your personal
information outside of Saint Louis University.
